approach to care.
Medical-grade chemical peel/resurfacing uses a carefully selected solution to remove outer layers of skin, encouraging smoother, more even-looking skin as it heals. It may address fine lines, uneven tone, sun-related discoloration, rough texture, acne, and some mild scarring. Peel depth affects both the degree of change and the healing process; results can be variable, and a peel cannot correct sagging skin or deep wrinkles. Temporary redness, irritation, peeling, pigment changes, infection, or scarring are possible, so this is not a risk-free treatment.
A consultation begins with a review of your skin concerns, medical history, medications, prior procedures, sun exposure, scarring or cold-sore history, and expectations. The skin’s tone, thickness, and current condition help guide whether resurfacing is appropriate and what level of treatment may be considered. Your clinician can discuss alternatives, potential benefits and limitations, and how individual factors may affect healing and pigment changes. Together, you can decide whether a chemical peel fits your goals or whether another approach is more suitable.
