UNDERSTANDING YOUR CARE

A personal
approach to care.

Neuromodulators, including Botox, Dysport, Xeomin and similar products, are injectable medicines that temporarily reduce nerve signals to selected muscles. As those muscles relax, expression-related lines may look softer, especially frown lines, forehead lines and crow’s-feet. People may also seek treatment for concerns such as a tense or tired-looking expression. Results vary, and neuromodulators do not restore lost volume or address every type of wrinkle; another option may be more appropriate for some concerns.

A consultation begins with your goals, facial movement and overall health in mind. Your clinician may review medical conditions, allergies, medications and prior injections, then discuss whether a neuromodulator fits your needs and what outcomes and risks are realistic. Treatment involves carefully placed injections, with the product and areas selected for an individualized plan. Temporary tenderness, swelling, bruising, headache or eyelid or brow drooping can occur, and rare effects may be more serious. Questions about pregnancy, breastfeeding, neuromuscular conditions or other treatments should be discussed before proceeding.
