UNDERSTANDING YOUR CARE

A personal
approach to care.

Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, removes or reshapes excess skin, muscle, and sometimes fat from the upper and/or lower eyelids. Age-related tissue changes can create drooping lids, hooding, or under-eye bags; upper-lid skin may also narrow side vision, cause heaviness, or rest on the lashes. Some people seek surgery mainly for appearance, while others have functional concerns. The procedure is tailored to the eyelids, brows, eye health, and facial balance—not a promise of a particular look.

A consultation reviews your medical and eye history, including dry eyes, prior eye surgery, medications, and goals. An evaluation may examine eyelid position and closure, tear-film health, brow position, and visual fields, with photographs when useful. Together, you can discuss whether blepharoplasty, another eyelid or brow procedure, or no surgery best fits your needs. Planning weighs your anatomy, safety, concerns, and realistic expectations, including risks such as irritation, bleeding, scarring, difficulty closing the eyes, or vision changes.
